Ivy Dell Berry

Ms. Ivy Dell Berry, 55, resident of New Highway 7, died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Adkison Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Williamson County native was the daughter of the late Pete Berry and Sarah Elizabeth Beard Smithson. She was a homemaker and had worked at one time as a bank courier for Pony Express. Ms. Berry was a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Ivy Leigh Berry Salman of Columbia; a son, James Durham, of Columbia; devoted partner of 34 years, Nita Rives of Nashville; sister, Joy Smithson of Nashville; three brothers, Joe (Sharon) Hargrove of Smyrna, Lee Hargrove of Mt. Pleasant, Ronnie Smithson of Nashville; four grandchildren, Michael Crafton, Derek Crafton, Austin Blake Hickman, Jessica Hudgins; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
