Jack was the only child of the late John Cherry Gaskill and Ellie Lillian Goad Gaskill who made their home many years on Ernest Hawkins Road in the Santa Fe Community. Jack retired from General Electric Corporation in Columbia in January, 1995 with 25 years service. He then built his farm shop at his home on Turkey Creek Road. He raised beef cattle with a mixture of Beef Master and Black Angus and Heiferd. He cut, raked, and baled 100 acres of hay each year along with raising corn to crush with the hay. Jack and June helped rear their grandson, Levi Wyatt. Jack taught Levi the makings of a good man with a good work ethic. Levi helped lead Jack to become a Christian and they were both baptized into Jesus Christ on August 17, 1992. Jack was a member of the West Seventh Street Church of Christ and was involved with many of the trips the Seniors made each year. He drove the church bus many times and helped with planning the places and the shows the groups attended. He will be missed greatly by the congregation of West Seventh Street Church. Jack was a friend to all, especially to his neighbors in the community. A "Jack of All Trades," ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, he was especially helpful with repairing their broken-down farm equipment. Jack was President of the Water Valley Community Club for the past 4 years. He was instrumental in the remodeling of the old schoolhouse building and making it the attractive building it is today for the use of people in the community and surrounding area. There cannot be enough said for Jack's character and honesty. He was a wonderful human being.
