James Clinton Damron

James Clinton Damron, 86, well-known Maury County businessman, co-owner of Damron & Sons Construction Company, and resident of Carter's Creek Pike, died Friday, November 14, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with John Hayes and Ashley Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Pleasant, he was the son of the late Oscar Temple Damron and Era Mae Garrett Damron. He was a 1946 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Damron was a long-time member of Beech Grove Church of Christ. He married the former Jean Grey Renfro on May 2, 1949. Their 65-year marriage ended with her death June 15, 2014. Survivors include his daughter, Sheryl (Phil) Sellers of Columbia; son, James Clinton (Sharon) Damron, Jr. of Columbia; grandchildren, Claire Sellers and James Sellers; sisters-in-law, Wilma "Pydle" Billington Damron and Patricia Renfro King of Columbia; brother-in-law, Donald Earl (Charlene) Renfro of Ft. Worth, Texas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Morton Damron. Active pallbearers are Charles Head, Wayne Vandiver, Jerry Henson, Ken Mosley, William Johnson, and Larry Joe Patton. Honorary pallbearers include Allen Pogue, Wayne Patterson, and Carl Johnson.
