James Clinton Damron

August 24, 1928 — November 14, 2014

James Clinton Damron, 86, well-known Maury County businessman, co-owner of Damron & Sons Construction Company, and resident of Carter's Creek Pike, died Friday, November 14, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with John Hayes and Ashley Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc., 410 Allied Dr, Nashville, TN 37211. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. A native of Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of the late Oscar Temple Damron and Era Mae Garrett Damron. He was a 1946 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Damron was a long-time member of Beech Grove Church of Christ. He married the former Jean Grey Renfro on May 2, 1949. Their 65-year marriage ended with her death June 15, 2014. Survivors include his daughter, Sheryl (Phil) Sellers of Columbia; son, James Clinton (Sharon) Damron, Jr. of Columbia; grandchildren, Claire Sellers and James Sellers; sisters-in-law, Wilma "Pydle" Billington Damron and Patricia Renfro King of Columbia; brother-in-law, Donald Earl (Charlene) Renfro of Ft. Worth, Texas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Morton Damron. Active pallbearers are Charles Head, Wayne Vandiver, Jerry Henson, Ken Mosley, William Johnson, and Larry Joe Patton. Honorary pallbearers include Allen Pogue, Wayne Patterson, and Carl Johnson. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to his care-givers, Kaitlyn Jackson and William Johnson, for their kindness and care.
