View Video Tribute James Franklin "Jim" Davidson, 74, retired tailor and resident of Pleasant Drive, died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Friday from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. at the church. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Cherokee County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Arthur Frank Davidson and Vernie Roberson Davidson. He was a graduate of Alcoa High School in Alcoa, Tennessee and served two years in the U. S. Army. Mr. Davidson was a former driver with the Columbia Fire Department. An excellent tailor for over fifty years, he owned and operated The Tailor Shop on East Seventh Street and also worked at Levy's and Pigg & Parsons. Mr. Davidson was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife whom he married June 12, 1959, Virginia Gayle Plumlee Davidson of Columbia; two daughters, Kathy Davidson Cook of Thompson's Station; Lynda Davidson (Ken) Lunn of Batavia, Ohio; two brothers, Gary Davidson of Sevierville; Larry (Phyllis) Davidson of Manchester; one sister, Sue (Don) Gibson of Maryville; four grandchildren, Adam (Ali) Cook, Lauren Cook, James Chadwick Lunn, Nina Lunn; two great grandchildren, Taylor Grace Robertson and Chloe Cook; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Davidson of Georgia. Active pallbearers will be his two grandsons Adam Cook and James Chadwick Lunn, his son-in-law Ken Lunn, David Murphy, Pete Coggin, Wally Hebert, Dan Carter, and Gary Plumlee. Honorary pallbearers will be Dickie Cook, Don Gibson, Dr. Rodney Poling and staff of BHC, Dr. Doug Kennedy, Dr. Ben Gardner, and Nursing Staff of ASU at Life Care Center of Columbia.
