View Funeral Webcast James LaFayette "J. L." Hobbs, 86, retired from Culleoka School and long-time employee of the Maintenance Department of the Maury County Board of Education died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at his residence on Dodson Gap Road in the Campbell Station Community. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Calvin Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in the Culleoka Community. The family will visit with friends after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Robert Virgil Hobbs and Allie Hannah Hobbs. He was a member of Campbell Station Church of Christ. On October 27, 1945, he married the former Beatrice Wilson. Their 48-year marriage ended in her death May 14, 1994. Survivors include a son, David (Tricia) Hobbs of Campbell Station; grandchildren, Justin Hobbs, Jessi Hobbs, and Jenni Hobbs, all of Campbell Station; and extended family, Brenda and Freddy Ring, Will Ring, Amy Ring, and Travis Ring, all of Campbell Station. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Hobbs and Bobby Pigue; brother, Hannah Hobbs and brother and sister-in-law, Revis and Mary Hobbs. His nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Betty and Hunt Dugger, Judy Roberts, Harry Underwood, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
