View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast James Sydney Ingrum, 78, retired from the Maintenance Department at Monsanto Company and resident of Edenburg Drive, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Signature Health Care. Funeral services for Mr. Ingrum will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Aleridge, Rev. Jeff Jacob, and Rev. Patricia Chaput officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Obion County, he was the son of the late Albert Sydney Ingrum and Elsie Hudgins Ingrum. He was a 1951 graduate of Columbia Central High School and Nashville Auto Diesel College in 1957. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Additionally, Mr. Ingrum was active in the affairs of First United Methodist Church, was a volunteer for Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and enjoyed membership in the Wagon Wheelers. Jim was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on the Tennessee River. From his years of working in maintenance, Jim loved to use his talents in helping others with home repairs and other projects. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Mr. Ingrum was an active walker at the Columbia Mall where he primarily enjoyed meeting and talking with friends. A devoted grandfather, he was affectionately known as "PaPaw" by his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandchildren whether fishing, boating, or proudly watching them participate in their many activities. Survivors include his wife, Flewellyn McKibbon Ingrum, whom he married February 1, 1957; daughters, Lucinda "Cindy" (Keith) Layne of Columbia and Jamie (Michael) Caskey of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Brooke Caskey and Parker Caskey of Murfreesboro, Lauren Layne and Matthew Layne of Columbia; sisters, Carolyn (Harold) Delk of Spring Hill and Faye (Charles) Norwood of Columbia; sister-in-law, Lou Ann Pinkleton Ingrum of Columbia. He was preceded in death by brothers, Norman Kenneth Ingrum and Bobby Eugene Ingrum; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Eugene Patterson, Royal Dickson, Billy Reed, William "Buddy" Harris, Morris Givens, Clifton Kelley, Jake Caskey, Robbie Ingrum, Mark Craft, and Jonathan Holder. Honorary pallbearers include Lewis "Buddy" Martin, Bill Perdue, Jack Taylor, Dr. John Maloof, Dr. Steve Simmons, Monsanto Retirees, Cory Prewitt, Cameron McCanless, and Colonel (ret) Dr. Hugh Michael Hughes.
