James Leonard Lovett, 92, retired employee of Union Carbide and resident of Lasea Road, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at New Lasea Church of Christ with Everett Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols and Sunday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the church. The Maury County native was the son of the late Willie Lovett and Evie Hargrove Lovett. On August 6, 1938 he married Mary Alva Rankin Lovett who preceded him in death on February 4, 2008. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Lovett enjoyed fishing, cattle farming, raising strawberries, fur trapping, and cutting wood in his younger years. He was a registered Tennessee Beekeeper. He was a former door greeter at Wal-Mart. He was a member of Old Lasea Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Robert Dorris (Ruby) Lovett of Zephyrhill, Florida; four daughters, Mary Louise (Larry) Barker of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Lennis Eugenia (Billy) Chesnut and Penny Darlene Lovett, both of Spring Hill; Wanda Lois (Charles) Harris of Lewisburg; daughter-in-law, Bettisu Lovett of Thompson's Station; four sisters, Martha Osborne and Angeline (Valton) Martin, both of Lewisburg; June (Tom) Bills and Shirley (Charles) Rankin, both of Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Lovett of Lewisburg and Evelyn Lovett of Columbia; thirteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Arnold Farris Lovett; a daughter, Joyce Ann Lovett Warf; two brothers, Louis Lovett and Ellis Lovett; two sisters, Violet Dark and Madeline Brown; and a grandson, Timothy Barker. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Lovett, Jimmy Warf, Randall Chesnut, Farris Lovett, John Lovett, Nathan Lovett, Britt Hanes, and John Bernhart. Honorary pallbearers include Elders, Deacons, and members of Old Lasea Church of Christ, former employees of Union Carbide, Robert Fox, Van Brown, and Julian Sharp.
