James Matthew Smithson

View Funeral Webcast Mr. James Matthew Smithson, 45, a resident of Lyles, Tennessee, died unexpectedly April 30, 2022 at Ascension Saint Thomas Hickman Hospital in Centerville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with his Uncle Larry Benderman officiating. The family with visit with friends one hour before the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Rock Springs Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born on September 13, 1976 in Maury County, Tennessee, he was the son of Larry and Kathy Smithson. Matthew attended Columbia Central High School Class of 1994. Matthew continued his education at the University of Memphis receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in the College of Arts and Sciences in 1998. Matthew was employed with Optum Services in Williamson County. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Leigh Ann (James) Whitfield; niece, Lyli Whitfield and nephew, Jacob Whitfield. Special mention to his two dogs, Haley and Maverick.
