View Funeral WebcastJames David "Jimmy" McNeely, 88, retired automobile dealer, died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at his residence on Green's Mill Road. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 12;00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Franklin Williams and Joe Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in Hardison Cemetery with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late David Leonard "Dave" McNeely and Fannie Walker McNeely and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. McNeely was co-owner/operator of Carpenter's Used Cars. He enjoyed his vocation as a hobby, visiting and "horse trading"with other car dealers during his morning coffee rounds. He was a member of Brown's Chapel Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Aline Johnson McNeely; daughters, Jamie (Jon) Smith of Franklin and Diane Lovell of Columbia; son, Thomas Dorris (Barbara) Duvall, Jr. of Columbia; sister, Elizabeth Kincaid West of Columbia; grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Mason Smith, Heather Owen, Jason Duvall, and Leigh Anne Duvall; great-grandchildren, McKenly Owen and Kanon Owen; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Farris and brothers, William "Bill" McNeely, Leonard Wilkes McNeely, and Jesse "Bunt" McNeely; a step-daughter, Brenda Gail Duvall. Active pallbearers are Mitchell Rummage, Ronnie McNeely, Donnie McNeely, Travis McNeely, Tyler Tomlinson, Andy Tomlinson, Kenny Clymore, and Steve Baker. Honorary pallbearers include Maury County used car dealers and employees of Baker Equipment Company.
