James Wiley Reedy, 87, retired millwright for Occidental and resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Chad Landman officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born February, 14, 1938 in Minor Hill, TN, he was the son of the late Osteen Reedy and the late Kathryn Augustin Reedy. James proudly served in The United States Army during the Korean War. On May 21, 1971, James married the love of his life, Betty Sue Wade, who preceded him in death on July 12, 2025. He was a hardworking man, who loved his family, his county, and God. James was a member of Graymere Church of Christ.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Kristy) Reedy of New Prospect, TN; grandchildren, Zach Reedy of New Prospect, TN, Taylor Reedy of New Prospect, TN; brother, Roger (Ann) Reedy of Pulaski, TN; sister-in-law, June Reedy of Five Points, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, and his wife, Betty Sue Reedy, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Reedy; and a brother, Joe Reedy.

Pallbearers will be Brian Reedy, Levi Reedy, Scott Reedy, Roger Dale Reedy, Scott Freemon, and Jonathan Reedy. Honorary pallbearers will include the elders of Graymere Church of Christ.
