View Funeral Webcast James David VanWey, 59, meat cutter for Superama Foods, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at his residence on Freedom Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Mike Dawson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 noon to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Mount Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Notes of sympathy may be sent towww.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Johnson County, Missouri, he graduated from high school in Warrensburg, Missouri and served in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert J. Van Wey. Survivors include his mother, Roberta (Emerald) Wonderly of Centerview, Missouri; sister, Sharon (David) Himes of Independence, Missouri; brothers, Randoll Jay (Llewellyn) VanWey, Donald (Michelle) Wonderly, both of Centerview, Missouri and Kevin VanWey of Granby, Missouri; fiancé`, Audrey Norman of Columbia; step-daughter, Hollie Norman; step-grandchildren, Jeremy Church and Kaleigh Alley, of Columbia; several aunts, including a special aunt, Gladys Zink of Knob Noster, Missouri; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Tommy Norman, Roger Reece, Patrick Carroll, Kevin VanWey, Randel VanWey, and Donald Wonderly. Employees and staff of Superama Foods will serve as honorary pallbearers.
