Jane Louise Bailey Farmer, 87, retired employee of Teledyne in Lewisburg, died Thursday, December 31, 2015 at her residence on Joe Brown Road. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Michael Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. and Monday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John Cody Bailey and Josephine "Josie" McGaugh Bailey. Mrs. Farmer collected antiques and enjoyed quilting. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She expressed her love for people through acts of service and strove to put others' needs above her own. She touched hearts through her meals, her candy, her sewing, and her beautiful singing voice. She was a member of New Lasea Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband whom she married August 1, 1948, Robert Herman "Bob" Farmer of Columbia; sons, Deb Farmer of Columbia and Taz (Merri Ann) Farmer of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Adam Bailey Farmer and Jessica Countiss Farmer; great grandchildren, Bailey Grace Farmer and Bryson Lee Farmer; sister, Grace Bailey Porter of Spring Hill; nieces, Jo Porter and Glynda Qualls; and nephews, John Porter and Bill Rummans. She was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Whiting, and niece, Mary McGaugh Rummans. Pallbearers will include Adam Farmer, John Porter, Roy Luckett, Billy Caldwell, John Waldrum, and Allen Brown. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caretakers from Home Instead and the Willowbrook Hospice in Franklin for their skilled and tender care of Mrs. Farmer in her last days. The family is also deeply grateful to Dr. Kim at Williamson County Hospital for the compassion he showed and the time he spent with the family when Mrs. Farmer was under his care. Mrs. Farmer's family also expresses their appreciation to the New Lasea Church of Christ for the meals, visits, and their many cards and prayers.
