Janice Looper Brown, 79, a resident of Columbia, TN died Sunday, February 15, 2026 at NHC Columbia surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bro. Marc Banning and Bro. Terry Jones officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Janice was born on December 4, 1946 to the late Enloe Looper and the late Conley Phillips Looper. She was a registered nurse for several hospitals in Nashville including Baptist Hospital and the Parthenon Pavilion and also for Jackson Park Ladies Retirement Home. She had enjoyed camping earlier in life alongside her husband but one of her greatest joys came from being a grandmother. Janice was a member of Berea Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of thirty years, Doug Brown of Columbia; brother, Philip Looper of Columbia; two step-sons, Tony (LouAnn) Brown of Columbia and Danny (Jennifer) Brown of Louisville, KY; four step-grandchildren, Will & D.J. Brown of Louisville, Blake (Kelsey) Bogue of Gallatin, and Brian (Olivia) Bogue of Carthage; two step great grandchildren, Ryder and Rhett Bogue; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Robert Earl Brown; and three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, Betty (Ewell) Crigger, Doris (Virgil) White, and Nancy (Shorty) Richardson.
A special thank you to her daughters-in-law, LouAnn & Jennifer; nieces, Carol Andrews, Betsy Caperton, Doris Smith, Vickie Elliott, and Tammy Thurman; great great niece Kaylee Holder who stayed with her at night, loved her and cared for her until her last breath. Also to her caretakers at N.H.C. Columbia on Walnut Lane for their care, concern and love and Gentiva Hospice employees.
