Janice Mae Woodard Farrell

Janice Mae Woodard Farrell, 75, Event Director for Marriott Corporation, died Friday, May 5, 2023 at her residence in Smyrna. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born September 21, 1947 in Williamson County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Clifton Woodard and the late Hellen Virginia Kennedy Woodard. Earlier in life, she worked for the Columbia Daily Herald in the Circulation Department. Ms. Farrell enjoyed birds, plants, flowers, spending time with her grandchildren, and had the gift of hospitality. Survivors include her son, Berney “Sonny” (Stacy) Hobbs, III of Culleoka; daughter, Jennifer “Ginger” Obunge of Smyrna; grandchildren, Seth (Taylor) Hobbs, Alec Hobbs, Sarah Hobbs, Ashlynn Ransom, Megan Ransom, Jayce Obunge, Maya Obunge, Brittni Baker, Brandon Baker; nine great grandchildren; and brother, Ernest (Doneda) Woodard of Tennessee Ridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Bobby Woodard, Prentice Woodard, Maxine Chambers, Kitty Crafton, Joanne Woodard. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
