View Video TributeView Funeral WebcastMiss Velma Jean Moore, 84, longtime resident of Morningside Avenue, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Russ Adcox officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery in the Cathey's Creek Community. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Worley Cemetery, c/o Steve Riley, 4966 Whiteside Rd., Hampshire, TN 38461. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John Hillary Moore and Velma Davis Moore. She retired from Columbia Production Credit Association as office manager and loan officer. Miss Moore loved to sing and was involved with a friend, Ima Jones, in a comedy routine that they performed on special occasions. She was artistic and loved to draw and especially loved going to estate sales. Miss Moore was a longtime member of Maury Regional Auxiliary and editor of their newsletter. She was an active member of Maury Hills Church. Survivors include her niece, Virginia Farmer of Nashville; nephew, Todd (Andrea) Farmer of Kansas City, Missouri; and great niece, Ashley Farmer of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Anne Farmer. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
