Jean Jackson Thomas

Jean Jackson Thomas, 82, retired employee of Maury Regional Medical Center, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Life Care Center of Columbia. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 5:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Vann officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. She was the daughter of the late Robert Luther Thomas and Eugenia Jackson Thomas and a direct descendant of Benjamin Thomas, one of the original settlers of Maury County. She was a 1951 graduate of Columbia Central High School. One of the original employees of Maury County Hospital, Jean's successful career in the Accounting Department spanned over thirty years until her retirement. During her years as a member of First United Methodist Church, she participated in the choir for several years. Survivors include her brother, Robert Eugene "Bob" Thomas; niece, Elizabeth Jackson "Beth" Thomas; and nephew, Robert Michael "Mike" Thomas, all of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Patricia "Pat" Thomas.
