Jennie Mae Beard

November 19, 1915 — April 5, 2010

Jennie Mae Shouse Beard, 94, retired seamstress and resident of Lewis Road in the Santa Fe Community, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Muston and Rev. Bob Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Adkison Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Knob Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Fund, c/o Tim Fitzgerald, 1209 Hunters Point Lane, Spring Hill, TN 37174 or Mooresville Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Helen Green, 3583 Tanyard Hollow Road, Culleoka, TN 38451. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Thomas Shouse and Dora Elizabeth Hill Shouse. On September 27, 1935 she married Ralph Beard, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 31, 2006. Mrs. Beard was employed at several clothing manufacturers including Storktown, Weather Tamer, and retired from Edric Manufacturing. She also took in private sewing and alterations in her home. She was a member of Knob Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughers, Helen Green of Culleoka; Juanita (Bill) Smith of Columbia; two sons, Ralph Beard, Jr. and Tommy (Marilyn) Beard, both of Columbia; five grandchildren, Angie (Steve) Jones of Culleoka; Caleb Beard of Columbia; Aftan (Scotty) Faulkner of Santa Fe; Dr. Elizabeth (Dr. Jake) Hicks of Murfreesboro; Michael (Chrissie) Smith of Spring Hill; and six great grandchildren, Dakota Jones and Tanner Jones, both of Culleoka; Beckham Faulkner and Emerson Faulkner, both of Santa Fe; Kaley Hicks of Murfreesboro; Riley Smith of Spring Hill. She was preceded in death by grandson, Timothy Ralph Beard; daughter-in-law, Janie Beard; son-in-law, Gilbert Green; brothers, Cleveland Shouse and Malcolm Shouse; and sisters, Addie McKee, Louise Burns, Catherine Warren, and Ruby Lewis. Pallbearers will be Steve Jones, Caleb Beard, Scotty Faulkner, Michael Smith, Jake Hicks, Bill Smith, Dakota Jones, and Tanner Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Knob Creek Baptist Church.
