View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Jerry Eugene Donovan, 54, owner of Donovan's Garage on the Hampshire Pike, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Barry Farris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he later lived and graduated from High School in New Orleans, Lousiana. After graduating from Mechanic's College in Louisiana, he turned a life-long passion for cars into a career. He came to Maury County in the late 1970s as Parts Manager for Lucas Chevrolet-Cadillac and several years later, established operation of Donovan's Garage. He loved customizing vintage automobiles and racing. He was a member of Columbia Elks Lodge, National Hot Rod Association, and was a communicant of the Catholic Church. Survivors include his special partner in life, Lisa Allen of Columbia and her daughters, Sarah (Adam) Crowell and Susan (Chevy) White. They shared in loving two granddaughters, Megan Faith Allen and Adisson Marie White, a soon to arrive grandson, requested by Jerry, and a precious little friend, Miss Kierra Grandberry. He is also survived by his parents, William "Bill" and Libby Ann Matthews Donovan of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Annette (Ken) Lewis of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Timmy (Karen) Donovan and Eddie (Kelly) Donovan of Hendersonville; nieces, Christina (Ryan) Jolley, Janelle (Grant) Ford, Stephanie Lewis, Brianna Donovan, Brittany Donovan, and Anna Belle Donovan; nephews, Michael (Krystal) Lewis and Eli Donovan; great-nephew, Weston Bryan; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Lewis, Adam Crowell, Ryan Jolley, Chevy White, Dave Lunsford, Greg Penkal, Ray Roberts, and James Reaves. Honorary pallbeares include friends at Lucas Chevrolet-Cadillac and fellow mechanics. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to friends and the community for the many kindnesses, love, and support during Jerry's illness.
