View Funeral WebcastJerry Michael "Mike" Grimes, 62, former helicopter pilot and flight instructor, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at his residence in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David D. Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pleasant and the late Jerry Frank Grimes. He was a 1971 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and earned his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Mr. Grimes proudly served his country as Captain in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Cathey's Creek Church of Christ. In addition to his mother, he is survived by sisters, Kathryn Ann Grimes of Columbia and Melissa Parks Grimes (Joel) Geno of Alpharetta, Georgia; brother, Paul Anthony "Tony" Grimes of Brentwood; nephew, Harrison Jeffrey (Hannah) Hinton of Nashville; uncles, Farris (Patsy) Grimes of Mt. Pleasant and Cecil (Letha Lou) Whiteside of Hampshire; aunt, Edith Delk of Greenfield Bend Community; and several cousins. Pallbearers will be Bill Riley, Steve Riley, Bud Grimes, Jimmy Grimes, Neil Delk, and Benny Morton.
