Jerry Grimes

Jerry Frank Grimes, 87, retired electrician and resident of Highway 166 North in Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at NHC Columbia. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Worley Cemetery with Wendell Robinson officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 - 2:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Mumford Lewis Grimes and Mildred Grace Parks Grimes. He was employed by Stauffer Chemical Company for several years and retired a few years after their acquisition by Rhone-Poulenc. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife whom he married July 20, 1951, Vera Anne Whiteside Grimes of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Jerry Michael Grimes of Mt. Pleasant; Paul Anthony "Tony" Grimes of Brentwood; two daughters, Kathryn Ann Grimes of Columbia; Melissa Parks Grimes (Joel) Geno of Atlanta; one grandchild, Harrison Jeffrey Hinton of Cookeville; and one brother, Walter Fariss Grimes of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Parks Grimes, Lewis Grimes, and Carl Grimes, and sister, Phyliss Parks. Active pallbearers will be Bill Riley, Steve Riley, Bud Grimes, Jimmy Grimes, David Grimes, and Wally Grimes. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Riley and Cecil Whiteside.
