View Funeral WebcastJerry Lane Roach, 72, retired home builder, died Sunday August 8, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center following a short battle with cancer.Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday August 11, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home, Columbia, TN with Rev. Jeff Jacob and Robert Wakefield officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He was the son of the late James Glenn "Buddy" Roach and Mary Estelle Webb Roach. Mr. Roach was a 1956 graduate of Columbia Central High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was the owner of Jerry Roach Construction and a home builder in Columbia for 25 years. He was previously employed for many years by Industrial Contractors of Columbia, and was a deputy of the Maury County Sheriff's Department. He greatly enjoyed big game hunting trips and family "get-togethers".Survivors include his daughters Vicki Lynn Roach (Joseph) Rotureau of Savannah, Georgia, Sandra Kaye Roach (James) Gordon of Brentwood, TN, and Janice Carol Roach (Curt) McGowan of Alpharetta, Georgia; sisters Beverly Ann Roach (James E.) Dawson and Glenda Sue Roach (James D.) Webb of Columbia, TN; grandchildren Elizabeth Christine Barnes (Chris) Miller of Jacksonville, FL, Brandy Michelle Barnes, Peyton Caroline Barnes, and Addison Nathaniel Barnes of Brentwood, TN, Jonathan Lawrence Rotureau and James Christopher Rotureau of Savannah, GA, Ellen Carol McGowan and Bennett Caroline McGowan of Alpharetta, GA, step-grandchildren Tyler Gordon and Nicholas Gordon of Franklin; great-grandchildren Owen Michael Miller and Emery Caroline Miller of Jacksonville, FL; nieces Julie Dawson (Eric) Whisler of Nashville, TN and Karen Roach of San Angelo, TX; nephews Gary Roach of San Angelo, TX, Mark Dawson of Washington D.C., Ron Roach of Fritch, TX, and James David Webb Jr. of Nashville, TN; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by grandparents Charles Fore Roach and Mary Frances Webb Roach, Moses Bonner Webb and Ruby Wilkes Webb Gordon; sister Norma Mai Roach and brother William "Bill" Marvin Roach.Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
