Jesse Woodard Sharp

View Video Tribute Jesse Woodard Sharp, 80, retired from Hall and Knox Mining Company and resident of Morris Avenue, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Gene Shelton and Derek Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grace Nazarene Building Fund, 2302 Highland Ave., Columbia, Tennessee 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late George Thomas Sharp and Mattie Emma Webb Sharp. He was a graduate of Culleoka High School. On August 9, 1952 he married Martha Jean Minor Sharp who preceded him death November 2, 2006. He was a regular "walker" at Columbia Mall. Mr. Sharp was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his daughters, Deb (Steve) Patterson and Susan A. Sharp both of Columbia; son, Randy Sharp of Columbia; two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Sharp of Culleoka, Matthew Steven Patterson of Columbia; sister, Mary "Flossie" Williams of Nashville; two brothers, Odell (Jane) Sharp of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, George (Teresa) Sharp of Chubbuck, Idaho; several nieces and nephews; and two special pet dogs, Blackball and Hounddog. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be our "helping hands" Louise "Galese" and Harold Holt, Connie and Clay McMeen, and also Tillman Knox, Jonathon Eldridge, Walter Jewell, Herschel Currie, Ms. Dot Griffy, Arch Patterson, Leo Hunt, Wayne Harvey, Claudie Lindsey and the Men's Prayer Group at Grace Church of the Nazarene.
