View Funeral WebcastMrs. Jessie Warf Hines, 90, retired from First Farmers & Merchants Bank and former long-time resident of Sunset Avenue, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Thomas Vann officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dementia Care Foundation, 69531 213th Street, Darwin, Minnesota 55324. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Elmer T. Warf and Bertha Judd Warf. She was a 1938 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Hines began her association with First Farmers & Merchants Bank in the early 1950s as a teller. Later, she moved to the bookkeeping department, served as assistant cashier and was an assistant vice-president at the time of her retirement after over 40 years service. Since her retirement, she loved to spend time reading and cooking. A long-time member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, she served as treasurer of the Administrative Board and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Married in October, 1940, her husband, Robert "Red" Hines preceded her in death February 10, 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Hines Sowell of Norris; a son, Colonel Jerry Thomas "Killer" (Betty Sue) Hines, U. S. Army (ret) of Dunn Loring, Virginia; sisters, Carolyn Warf Perry of Theta and Jean Warf (Jack) Willis of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Priscilla Jennings, Jerry Wayne Hines, Rob (Laura Carlson) Hines, Lance (Lara Jo) Hines, Scott (Jodi) Hines, Lora Hines Maiorana, Dr. Forrest (Amy) Sowell, Jason Sowell, Braxton (Nicole) Sowell; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne "Homer" Hines; sisters, Elizabeth Warf Priest, Rachel Warf Chandler, Addie Warf Peach, Joan Warf Farris; brothers, H. A. Warf and Harold "Buck" Warf; and son-in-law, Richard T. Sowell. Active pallbearers are Gary Willis, Mike Barnes, Glenn Truelove, Tyson Jennings, Larry Peach, and Randall Chandler. Honorary pallbearers include past and present employees of First Farmers & Merchants Bank.
