Jessie Lee Harris Burt, 90, died Thursday, May 25, 2023 at her residence in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM, June 1, 2023 at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Vann officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born June 2, 1932 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Joe McCown Harris and the late Wilma Mattie Bee Crabtree Harris. On July 12, 1953, she married Clarence Raymond “Ray” Burt who preceded her in death October 12, 2011. She was a 1950 graduate of Central High School in Fayettville. Mrs. Burt had worked at Tennessee Farm Bureau and Western Union Telegraph. Along with her husband, she was co-owner and operator of Orman’s Photo Shop. She was a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ and former member of Western Square Dance Club, Columbia Central Band Boosters Club, and Columbia Home Demonstration Club. Survivors include her son, Scott Burt of Columbia; niece, Gina Kerra Logue; nephews, William Harry (Carla) Logue, Jr., Steve (Sylvia) Burt, Danny (Melanie) Burt, and Ricky Burt; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Odahleen “Deannie” Harris Logue. Active pallbearers will be Bill Logue, Tristan Logue, Caleb Logue, Steve Burt, David White, Ken Cathey, and Danny Burt. Honorary pallbearers include Shirley Scribner, Lucy and Jerry Church.
