View Video Tribute Mr. Jimmy Gray Grimmett, age 86, a resident of the Sawdust Community, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at home. Funeral services for Mr. Grimmett will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with Donna Higginbotham officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Born January 6, 1935 in Maury County and raised in Sawdust, he was the son of the late Grady Lee and Ada Johnson Grimmett and the husband of the late Lounora Bell Grimmett, who he married on October 17, 1958. Mr. Grimmett served two years in the United States Army. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. Mr. Grimmett loved his church and family. He was retired from Monsanto and still actively worked at Paper Pulley. He was a long time member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school over 40 years. He is survived by his daughters, LuAnn and the late Mark Yancey of Columbia and Bobbie Black of Sawdust; grandchildren, Kelly (Brad) Dix of Murfreesboro and Ben (Rachel) Warf of Columbia; great-grandchildren, MaKayla Black, Evie Neely and Lila Warf; one great-great grandchild, Ella Gray Bennett; sister, Betty Jo Boyd of Spring Hill. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Molly Bell Grimmett; brothers, Lewis Grimmett and Hugh L. Grimmett; son-in-law, Mark Yancey. Pallbearers will be Garrick Jones, Byron Jones, Steven Thomas, Stan Bell, Jerry Grimmett, Todd Greer, Jeffery Kincaid, and Tim Black. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews and the guys at Paper Pulley. The family suggests memorials may be made to Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Carol Baker P.O. Box 324 Williamsport, Tennessee 38487.
