Mr. Jimmy D. Scott, 79, former resident of Columbia Highway in Hampshire and retired employee of Union Carbide, died Monday, November 30, 2015 at Lewis County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to American Heart Association P.O. The Maury County native was the son of the late Brooks Scott and Annie Cates Scott. On December 23, 1957 he married Lynette Hardy Scott who preceded him in death September 15, 2002. He was a former long-time resident of West 12th Street and part owner of J& S Glass Company for several years. Mr. Scott was a member of the Church of Christ and an avid outdoors man, he loved hunting and fishing. He was a former member of the Maury County Civil Defense and assisted in the Maury County Jail Fire and the Riverside Flood. He was very devoted to his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughters, Tammy (Bill) Sanders of Hampshire and Katrina (Harold) Brunson of Columbia; sister, Myrtle Wilson of Columbia; grandchildren, Bryan (Jenna) Sanders of Lawrenceburg, Jeannie Brunson and Ally Brunson both of Columbia; great grandchildren, Kaileigh Baker and Tru Sanders; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel Johnson, Nancy Baxter, and Mary Scroggins; brothers, Henry Scott, Arthur Scott, Alec Scott, Carl Scott, Robert Scott, and James Scott. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Scott, Carlton Scott, Greg Whitehead, Jason Whitehead, Dave Scott, and Robert Scott, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Ray Stewart, Carlton "Rocky" Baker, Bobby McPeak, Bill Brown, and C.J. Brown.
