Joe Mack Hight, 87, retired Metropolitan Nashville teacher and long-time resident of the Greenbrier Community in Robertson County, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at NHC in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Pleasant Mount Cemetery in the Fountain Heights Community in Maury County with Rev. Calvin Lunn officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Williamson County, he was the son of the late Joe Park Hight and Mackie Mai Orr Hight and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his sister, Mary Anne Winfrey of Greenbrier; nieces and nephews, Roberta Martin, Niccole Hight, Richard Hight, Chris Hight, Jolie Hanke, David Winfrey, Melainie Sigafosse; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Richard Hight and great-nephew, Nicholas Martin.
