Joe Ewing Knox, 88, resident of Knoxville, Tennessee peacefully passed into the presence of his Lord on July 18,2015. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lynnville, Tennessee with Dr. Edward Knox officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Lynnwood Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com Mr. Knox was born in Lynnville, Tennessee on December 28,1926, the second of six children of the late Julian Knox and Corinne Parsons Knox. He was a graduate of Jones High School. A veteran of WWII he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. On March 21, 1947 he married the former Belle Stockman in Franklin, Tennessee. Their 68 year marriage ended with her death February 8, 2015. He was employed by the Pontiac Division of General Motors for 30 years where his knowledge and personal qualities developed many life-long friendships among co-workers and business associates. As a member of the Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, he pursued his on-going love of Bible studies. Joe is survived by his sons, Joe Knox of Franklin, Julian (Maria) Knox of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Justin (Kiki) Knox of Knoxville; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, William P. Knox of Mt. Pleasant, Dr. Edward J. Knox of Germantown, and Robert D. Knox of Madison. . He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Allen Hickerson and brother, John S. Knox.
