Mr. John William Ervin, 71, retired heavy equipment operator for General Trucking Company, Floyd & Floyd Construction and Columbia Rock Products and resident of the Campbellsville Pike, died Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Franklin Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Kidney Dialysis Center. The Limestone County, Alabama native was the son of the late Willie Erving and Myrum Davis Ervin. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Virgie Chatman Ervin of Columbia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Bubba Henson of LaVergne and Teresa and Randy Rose of Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Debbie Ervin of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Tracy (Eric) Disney, Stacey Henson, Christi (Mohammed) Ali, David Henson, Kimberly Ervin, Johnathan Bishop, Tiffany Ervin; a great-granddaughter, Erica Henson; two sisters, Virginia (Bobby) Lovell and Mary Reaves, both of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Malcolm Lee Ervin. Active pallbearers are Stacey Henson, David Henson, Bubba Henson, Mohammed Ali, Eric Disney, Randy Rose, Johnathan Bishop and Kimberly Ervin. Employees of Moorecare will serve as honorary pallbearers.
