John Clarence Haywood, 56, former mechanic for Damron & Sons Construction Company and resident of Theta Pike, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Gary Bailey officiating.. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. Born in Maury County, he was the son of Clara Maxie Agent Haywood of Columbia and the late John Mayberry Haywood. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors in addition to his mother include his sisters, Jane Counts of Columbia and Lynn Taylor of Paris; several nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Karen Turner. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
