View Video Tribute John Edward Lovett, 82, retired laboratory technician for E. I. DuPont Corporation and Spontex Corporation and resident of Experiment Station Lane, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Northview Church of Christ with Greg Elrod, Wayne B. Hardison, and Roy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The Maury County native was the son of the late Buford Lovett and Mary Huckaby Lovett. He was a 1948 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army between World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Lovett was a member of Northview Church of Christ and Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Brown Lovett, whom he married January 18, 1958; daughter, Teresa (Roy) Wilson of Huntsville, Alabama; grandsons, Nathaniel Wilson and Daniel Wilson of Huntsville, Alabama; brother, Doris (Billie) Lovett of Columbia; and nephew, Todd (Pam) Lovett of Columbia. Serving as active pallbearers are Joe Huckaby, Todd Lovett, Stan Farris, Jerry Church, Wendell Jump, Doug Taylor, and Randall Rummage. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and Deacons of Northview Church of Christ and retirees of E. I. DuPont and Spontex corporations.
