View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast John Pipkin, Jr., 86, retired crane operator for Union Carbide Corporation for 35 years, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late John Pipkin, Sr. and Clara Ann Pipkin London. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Mr. Pipkin was a member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, Columbia Masonic Lodge #31 and a Shriner. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Cora Irene Hendrix Pipkin of Columbia; daughter, Elaine (Frank) Livesay of Nashville; sons, Ricky (Beverly) Pipkin of Nashville, Howard "Cheyenne" Pipkin of Columbia, and Joe (Debbie) Pipkin of Columbia; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a niece. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Johnson, Blanche Dietz, and Jane Chanaberry; and brothers, Henry Pipkin, A. W. Pipkin, and Mayhew Bolton. Active pallbearers are Lee Gray, Rick Pipkin, Cheyenne Pipkin, Joe Pipkin, Shane Pipkin, Brent Dillehay, Cody Livesay, and Scott Dillehay. Honorary pallbearers include Johnnie Riggins, Tom McFarland, Robbie Adkins, James Cammuse, Cheyenne Pipkin, Jr., U. S. Marine Corps.
