John Wayne Price

View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mr. John Wayne Price, 73, a resident of Brookside Drive died Monday, July 26, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Price will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeremy Butt officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 14, 1948 he was the son of the late Mary Maxine Price. He was raised by his late grandparents, Carrel & Offie Price. Mr. Price graduated Corning High School and attended Crowley’s Ridge College and then went on to Harding University where he met Carlene. He went on to receive his Master’s of Education from Trevecca. On August 20, 1970 he married Linda Carlene Hamlett Price. Mr. Price was retired from the Maury County Board of Education where he was Science teacher at Mt. Pleasant High School. He enjoyed wood working and making furniture. He was an avid football and basketball fan, his favorite teams were the Titans and the Razorbacks. Mr. Price was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a former long time member of West 7th Street Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Jill Price and Robyn (Jason) Wright; grandchildren, Emily Wright & Clayton Wright; and several cousins. Pallbearers will be Jason Wright, Clayton Wright, Michael May, David May, Darron Chapman, Dwayne Frakes and Bill Watts. Honorary pallbearers will be David Kirk, Gary Whitton, Bob Ainsworth, Carl May, Al May, Brandon Watts, Brad Johnston, Jeff Johnston and Virgil White. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Avalon Hospice and Pam Connelly and Chaplain Mike Dodrill.
