View Funeral WebcastJoseph Albert Jones, 95, long-time farmer and resident of the Sawdust Community and retired equipment operator for Union Carbide Corporation, died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Marlin Connelly and Rev. Sherry Ladd officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Santa Fe Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 58, Santa Fe 38482. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com.The Maury County native was the son of the late Joseph Walter Jones and Anna Brown Gidcomb Jones. He was a member of First Baptist Church.He was married March 17, 1941 to the former Helen Estelle Sullivan. Mrs. Jones died February 20, 2008.Survivors include daughters, Helen Kay (Jimmy) Humphrey of Sawdust and Minynon Annette (Paul) Ledbetter of Mt. Juliet; sons, Albert Turner (Mary Jo) Jones of Sawdust, Walter Frank (Sissy) Jones of Williamsport, and John Yeiser (Sandra) Jones of Mt. Pleasant; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Bertha Graves and Jane Poindexter of Mt. Juliet, and Elizabeth Fly of Gallatin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Wright and brothers, Beale Jones and Frank Jones.Active pallbearers are Andrew Jones, Draa Jones, Jason Jones, Mylen Coble, Dennis Beaver, John Lee Jones, James Toungette, Michael Dodson, Byron White, George Ladd, and Kent Woody. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Dale, Martha and Kenneth Scott, Nephews, members of Santa Fe Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Central Christian Church, and Dr. Angela Joynes.The family extends special thanks to Carolyn Skelley, Martha and Kenneth Scott, Gladys Woody, Sylvia Givens, Susan and James Toungette, and Dr. Angela Joynes for their care and concern during his illness
