Judy Marie Miller Carter, 77, of Spring Hill, TN passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026 with family at her bedside.
Born June 26, 1948, in Endicott, NY, Judy was the beloved daughter of the late Jack and Jane Miller. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Patrick Miller, and her devoted husband, Brad Carter.
Judy is survived by her loving sons, Patrick Mark (Mary Alyson) and Bradley Michael (Kristen). She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Savannah Frances, Grace Catherine, Portia Rose, Thomas Hudson, Carson William, and Lauren Vivian. She also leaves behind her cherished and spoiled King Cavalier, Laddie.
A successful real estate agent by profession, Judy was equally devoted to her life as an artist and creative spirit. She was a prolific painter, working in watercolor, oil, and acrylic mediums, who drew inspiration from the beauty around her in flowers, nature, and vibrant color. Each holiday, many of those she loved received one of her treasured hand-painted cards—small works of art created just for them, reflecting her creativity and the personal care she poured into her relationships. Even in her final days, she was planning painting trips to London and Yosemite—always looking ahead to her next artistic adventure.
Judy loved music deeply and could often be found listening to Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, and Vince Gill. She was fashionable, impeccably manicured, and carried herself with grace and confidence. She adored traveling and explored destinations including Italy, China, Cuba, France, Spain, and Alaska.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She never missed a soccer game, equestrian performance, swim meet, band concert, dance recital, or basketball game. She showed up—enthusiastically and faithfully—always their greatest champion.
Judy was also a deeply loyal and devoted friend. No matter where life took her—or them—she kept up with friends from across the country, maintaining lifelong connections through phone calls, handwritten notes, visits, and shared trips. She had a remarkable ability to remember the details that mattered: birthdays, milestones, struggles, and celebrations. Her friendships were intentional and enduring. She created circles of camaraderie wherever she lived, bringing laughter, style, warmth, and sincerity into every room. Her friends cherished her for her wit, her honesty, her creativity, and her steadfast presence through every season of life.
Judy’s resilience defined her. She lovingly nursed her husband through his battle with Agent Orange-related Parkinson’s. Though she faced a longstanding battle with cancer herself, she was determined that it would not define her or limit her pursuit of living fully. She embraced new challenges at every stage of life—learning to swim at 58 after never having learned as a child, and tackling each new experience with courage.
She bred Himalayan cats for a time, loved cars (a passion sparked by her father, who taught her at age 6 to identify cars by their sound), and fondly remembered her first car—a 1965 Mustang Fastback. She was an avid reader and someone who truly valued connection, conversation, and community.
Above all, Judy lived colorfully, courageously, and with boundless love for her family and friends. Her life was a masterpiece—rich in color, love, music, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She will be profoundly missed.
A funeral mass will be conducted Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Catherine Catholic Church.
