View Video Tribute June Nellums Kelley Gaskill, 81, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died Friday, January 21, 2022 at her home on Turkey Creek Road in Maury County. Alzheimer’s may have clouded her memories while on this earth, but she is now standing tall and singing praises with a full mind to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 25th, at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Ricky Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday, January 24th, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. June Nellums Kelley Gaskill was born May 13th 1940, the only child of the late Ellen Larissa (Nellums) Birkholz and was raised by her late grandparents Bert Dean Nellums and Nannie Lou (Floyd) Nellums at a residence on Goshen Road in the Hilltown community. In 1958 she graduated from Santa Fe High School as valedictorian and attended Columbia Business College. June married James Raybon Kelley in November 6th, 1958 and had three children, Tonya Lenita Kelley, Tamera (Tammy) Lynn Kelley (Wyatt) James, and Troy Hardin Kelley. On July 18th, 1966 June followed the example of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in baptism at West 7th Church of Christ. Wonderful memories of her singing and praising the Lord in church will always be cherished by her family. West 7th Church of Christ will always be her home church, but through the years she also attended Water Valley Church of Christ, Phillippi Church of Christ and during the later times of life she attended Theta Church of Christ. June married Jack Arnold Gaskill on December 21, 1983 and they both played a major role in raising her first grandchild, David Levi Wyatt. June worked at GE in Columbia for 23 years before the plant shut-down operations. She then when back to school and graduated from Volunteer State Community College in 1997 with a degree in Health Information Technology and served others while working for Doctor Toban as office manager, until finally retiring. June will always be remembered for her gift of hospitably and her passion love of cooking for her family, friends and community. She and her late husband, Jack Gaskill supported the Wounded Warrior Project and other charities through the Water Valley Community Club activities. As Proverbs 31: 27-30 teaches about a godly women, “She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her; ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all’. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” ESV Survivors include her children, Tonya Lenita Kelley (Lisa Williams) of Vienna, Virginia and Troy Hardin (Trisha) Kelley of Thompson's Station, TN; step-son William "Bill" Gaskill of Columbia, TN. Grandchildren David Levi (Kelley) Wyatt of Williamsport, TN; Alden James (Kelsey) Kelley of Murfreesboro, TN; Drew Hardin (Sydney) Kelley of Paducah, KY; Kendra Faye (Nicholas) Stewart of Spring Hill, TN; Anna Kunxiang Williams and Lauren Alexia Williams of Vienna, Virginia; step-grandchildren Eva Maria Gaskill and Jonathan Amadaus Gaskill of Columbia, TN; Great Grandson Paxton Bennett. Cousins Donna Faye Nellums (San Jay) Kumar of Smyrna, TN; Laura Riggs (Ray) Mitchell of Providence, R.I.; and Marie Riggs Graves. June is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Arnold Gaskill and daughter Tamera "Tammy" Lynn Kelley Wyatt (Keith) James of Lawrenceburg, TN. Active pallbearers will be David Levi Wyatt, Alden James Kelley, Drew Hardin Kelley, Nicholas Stewart and Heath Bone. Honorary pallbearers will be Kendra Faye Stewart, Anna Kunxiang Williams and Lauren Alexia Williams, including the members of the Water Valley Community Club.
