Katherine Peery Harris

Aug 25, 1928 — Sep 18, 2026

Williamsport, TN

Katherine Peery Harris, age 98, of Williamsport, TN, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026. Katherine was born in Hampshire, Tennessee on August 25 1928 to the late Walker Haynes Peery and the late Margaret Katherine Savage Peery. She was married to Carl Jr. for 64 years prior to his passing in 2013. Katherine grew up in Hampshire and Carl lived in Williamsport. They met each other in their teenage years at Kettle Mills, which is situated halfway between the two communities, where they will unite again at their final resting place at Delk Cemetery. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Delk Cemetery with Steve Holmes officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Together, Carl and Katherine lived on the Harris Farm and raised Tennessee Walking Horses, tobacco, cattle, and row crops. They helped start the Maury County Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Homemakers which led to a lifetime of involvement with the Farm Bureau organization. She was most active in Farm Bureau Women where they heavily promoted the Ag in the Classroom program and yearly held a farm day for school children from all over the county to learn about agriculture. The event continues to this day.

Katherine had a special affinity for sharing her skills and knowledge with the next generation. She cared deeply about making sure her grandchildren knew where their food came from and the hard work it takes to grow it. Summer days with “Kaki” are fondly recalled by her grandchildren with memories working in the garden, frying fish and hushpuppies, cooking lessons, and always some sort of craft or handiwork lesson in knitting, sewing, and more. She always had a project going to keep her hands busy, which is likely why her mind stayed sharp into her final days.

She loved nothing more than having her family around the table and trying a new recipe that was always accompanied by her famous homemade rolls. She taught several family members how to make them, but we will never be able to replicate them perfectly and we look forward to the day we can all eat them together.

Katherine was one of a kind – strong-willed, faithful, and servant hearted. They simply just don’t make them like her anymore.

In addition to her parents, Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jr., her daughter Oleita Harris Conner, and sister Joyce Peery Barnhill.

She is survived by her daughter Shelia, who was always by her side, her son, Will (Nancy) Harris, their daughters Stephanie (Kris) Webber, Laura Leigh (Joe) Kruckeberg, son in law Neal Conner, grandsons Dr. Christopher (Lindsay) Conner, Dr. Spencer (Kayla) Conner, niece Brenda (Tim) Faulkner, and seven great grandchildren, Walker Webber, Turner Webber, Indie Conner, Nola Conner, Adair Conner, Liliana Conner, and Emmy Conner.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Chris Conner, Dr. Spencer Conner, Kris Webber, Joe Kruckeberg, Ronnie King, and Tim Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers will include Lucille Truette and Jenny King.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Katherine’s memory to the Tennessee Farm Bureau Foundation at https://tnfarmbureau.org/foundation#1756239493447-f8629df8-82dc. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
