Katherine June Underwood Henson, 78, long standing resident of the Hollywood Community of Culleoka, passed away from a sudden illness on July 16, 2025 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Larry Benderman and Donnie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born March 28, 1947 in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Evans Underwood and the late May Katherine Franklin Underwood. On March 21, 1967 she married the love of her life, Donald Paul Henson, who preceded her in death on June 9, 2008. She worked at Columbia Wholesale Foods for three decades before retiring to a quiet life with her husband. She was a long standing member of Bethel Church of Christ in Southport, spanning over five decades.

Mrs. Henson loved traveling with her late husband, whether it was road trips driving hundreds of miles or a local back road trip through Giles County with no destination or schedule. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and tending to her flowers. Her love and dedication for her family was unparalleled. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family. Her name was June, but everyone called her Nanny.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Paul “Tony” Henson and Tracy Lynn Westmoreland Henson of Culleoka; grandson, Zachary Paul (Sarah Elizabeth) Henson of Columbia; great-grandsons, Elliott Paul Henson and Maverick James Henson; dozens of nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Evan Lane (Donovan) Underwood, who was like a second son; and two sisters, Bonnie (Charlie) Hines of Culleoka, and Debbie Underwood of Shelbyville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Evans Underwood, David Underwood, Charles Underwood; and sisters, Dorothy Hubbell, and Donna Underwood.

Active pallbearers will be Evan Underwood, Kevin Underwood, Clay Henson, Joey Scott, Jacob Scott, and Luke Anderson.
