Katherine Moore Sneed

Mrs. Katherine Louise Moore Sneed, 92, retired from Dixie Manufacturing, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at her residence on Morris Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swango and Rev. William Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Floyd Moore and Iva B. Chunn Moore. On April 14, 1938 she married Rev. John Hunter Sneed and was his loving helpmate for sixty-two years until his death on December 28, 2000. Mrs. Sneed was a charter member and the oldest attending lady of New Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church at Rally Hill and later she placed her membership at Blue Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Her life always revolved around her family and her church. She was always dressed up and ready to attend gospel singings anywhere in Middle Tennessee and North Alabama. Survivors include her daughter, Eddice Sneed Burns of Spring Hill; sons, Alvie "Bud" Sneed of Columbia, Samuel (Claudia) Sneed of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; very special friend, Thurston Fly of Cornersville; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Justin Woods; brother, Robert S. Moore; and sisters, Agnes Shires and Dalice Hargrove Harmon. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include all the people she loved and cherished throughout her life and members of all the churches that she attended.
