View Video TributeKathleen Whiteside Morton, 98, homemaker and longtime resident of Cathey's Creek Community, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday after 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Oscar Whiteside and Annie Pogue Whiteside. On October 14, 1937 she married Charles Errette Morton, Jr., who preceded her in death on May 25, 2002. She was a 1935 graduate of Hampshire School and a member of Cathey's Creek Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy (Mike) Bassett of Antioch; sons, Charles E. (Linda) Morton, III of Mt. Pleasant; Benny (Brenda) Morton of Hampshire; daughter-in-law, Linda Williams Morton of Hampshire; sisters, Edith Delk of Williamsport; Vera Ann Grimes of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Cecil (Letha Lou) Whiteside of Hampshire; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Morton; sister, Hortense Delk; and brother, Paul Neeley Whiteside. Active pallbearers will be Charles E. Morton, IV, Ronald Morton, Ross Morton, David Boyd, Sean Weatherford, Danny Stinnett, Dustin Lewis, and K. C. Delk. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Cathey's Creek Church of Christ, Doug Fraser, William Carroll, and Dr. Thomas Farmer.
