Mrs. Katie Turner Brooks, 89, retired employee of Maury Regional Medical with 26 years of service and resident of Towson Drive, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12:00 P.M. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jeff Kane officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to service time at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Born October 22, 1926 in Haywood County, Tennessee she was the daughter of the late Robert William Turner and Katie May Crook Turner. She was a 1940 graduate of Haywood County High School. She married William Herbert Brooks who preceded her in death December 29, 1983. Mrs. Brooks was member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughters, Myra (Sanford) Potts and Jane Cunningham both of Columbia; brother, Gene Turner of Gates, Tennessee; granddaughters, Whitney (John) Palmer of Atlanta, Georgia; Katie Webster of Murfreesboro; and Gina Potts of Columbia; grandsons, Eric (Chanin) Cunningham of Santa Fe; and Jonathan Potts of Murfreesboro; six great grandchildren; and special caregivers, Carol DeBord and Nancy Higgs. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, John Cunningham; sisters, Marie Layne, Irma Sellers, and Evelyn Riddle; brothers, Robert Turner and Lynn Turner. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include Ann and Clarence Dunnavant, Linda Mabry, Mark and Trisha Jett, Dean Stinson, and members of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
