View Video TributeView Funeral Service WebcastMr. Kenneth Eugene Scott, 62, retired from Columbia State Community College maintenance department and life long resident of Santa Fe, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. James Lunsford officiating. Burial will follow in Fly Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army National Guard Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Fly Nazarene Church, 2713 Fly Road, Santa Fe, TN, 38482 or Fly Cemetery Fund, c/o David Scott, 5655 Snow Creek Road, Santa Fe, TN 38482. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Louis Scott and Martha Fly Scott. He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School. Kenneth was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, rifle sharp shooter M16 and M14 award, 2 Over Seas Service Bars and from the United Daughters of the Confederacy he was awarded the Cross of Military Service award. He was well known for his carpentry and electrical skills and helped build homes for his family members and many of his friends. He left his trademark three piece crown molding in many of these homes. Kenneth was a "jack of all trades" and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a member of Fly Nazarene Church. Survivors include his wife of nearly 40 years, Martha Malugin Scott of Santa Fe; son, Kevin (Amy) Scott of Santa Fe; and daughter, Candi (Rodney) Adams of Santa Fe. "Papa" is also survived by granddaughters, Morgan and Summer Scott and grandson, Colby Adams all of Santa Fe. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye and he was always ready for "Papa time." In addition he is survived by sisters, Janie (John) Dressel of Houston, Texas, Louise (Jimmy) Faulkner and Jean Clark both of Santa Fe; Annette (Ronnie) South of Columbia; brothers, Wayne (Linda) Scott of Columbia, Calvin (Addie) Scott, Reddick (Debbie) Scott, and David (Carol) Scott all of Santa Fe; sisters-in-law, Allene Scott, Betty (Andy) Thomason, Naomi Humphrey, and Donna (Larry) Tarkington. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Rebecca Scott; brother, William Gant Scott; stepmother, Gladys Scott; and parents-in-law James and Elizabeth Malugin. Active pallbearers will be James Faulkner, Jerry Faulkner, Greg Scott, Tim Scott, Dayton Scott and Nathan Tarkington. Honorary pallbearers are Kay and Jimmy Humphrey, Brenda and Terry Odom, J. Frank Walker, James Keith, Danny McDonald, Gerald Humphrey, Ralph and Clariece Ussery and members of Fly Nazarene Church. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Maury Regional EMS Staff; Maury Regional Emergency Room and ICU for their special care and a very special thank you to Amy Scott and Danny Fox.
