View Funeral WebcastKenneth Franklin Thompson, 74, retired employee of Maury County Schools, former service manager for Ron Bishop Ford, and resident of Woolard Road in the Santa Fe Community, died Friday, November 6, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Joe Bowers, Rev. Larry McGranahan, and Rev. Terry Hundley officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday after 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Santa Fe Square Fund, c/o Brenda Potts, 2503 Santa Fe Pike, Santa Fe, TN 38482. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. Mr. Thompson was a 1954 graduate of Santa Fe High School and served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church. Very active in community affairs, he was a charter member of the Santa Fe Square Committee. He was a member of Benton Masonic Lodge and the Columbia Wagon Wheelers. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Shirley Givens Thompson of Santa Fe; two daughters, Beverly (Chip) Graham of Knoxville; Dannette (Ronnie) Pack of Santa Fe; four grandchildren, Chaz Graham and Kyna Graham, both of Knoxville; Allison Pack and Jenna Pack, both of Santa Fe; one sister-in-law, Sylvia Givens of Santa Fe; nephew, Steven Givens of Santa Fe; and niece, Sheryl Givens of Santa Fe. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Thompson. Pallbearers will be J. W. Shouse, Marlin Arnold, George Burns, Jack Lockhart, Thomas Culberson, Henry Harris, Lloyd Baxter, Sr., Walker Huey, and Kenneth Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Santa Fe High School Class of 1954, Columbia Wagon Wheelers, and Dr. Cummins Couch.
