Larry Derryberry, 63, went to be with his Savior after a valiant 3 year battle with cancer on March 8, 2012 in Longwood, Florida. He was a loyal and loving husband and brother, devoted father, caring and supportive friend to so many, and much-loved by all who knew him. He was born in Columbia, son of the late Bill and Maxine Macdonald Derryberry. A 1966 graduate of Columbia Central High School, he excelled in athletics; lettered 3 years in football and basketball; was co-captain of the football team, and served as President of the Key Club. He attended Memphis State University for two years prior to transferring to the University of Kentucky where he met his future wife, Linda Kerr of Columbus, Ohio. After graduation from the UK College of Architecture, he and Linda moved to the Orlando, Florida area where they have made their home for over 40 years. Larry greatly enjoyed his career designing and supervising the construction of educational facilities while a partner at DDP Architects. He also loved boating, motorcycles, and more recently seeing our beautiful country by RV. Participating on a precision motorcycle drill team was a passion since his retirement. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and loved sharing Christ while traveling the highways. His faith in Christ was a focus of his life for himself and his family. He was a member of Northland, A Church Distributed. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Linda Kerr Derryberry of Longwood, Florida; his children, Lindsey (John) Jones and Lane (Dorothy) Derryberry; step-granddaughter, Ashley Arevalo;, sister, Libby (Gary) Moss of Columbia; sister-in-law, Pat Kerr; nieces, Laura (Mike) Parks and Lisa (Jason) Kelley of Columbia; nephew, Bill (Sheila) Thrasher of Columbia; great-nieces, Jacy Thrasher, Andee Kelley, and Molly Kelley; great-nephews, Jordan Thrasher, Craig Parks, and Cooper Parks. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m. (EST) at Northland, A Church Distributed, 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood, Florida 32779.
