Laura McKnight Williams

November 30, 1939 — February 21, 2015

Laura Ann McKnight Williams, 75, retired secretary of Smelter Service Corporation and former resident of Denise Drive, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Humphreys County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Joe Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. The family suggest memorials be made to the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation, 505 Northern Blvd, Suite 200, Great Neck, New York 1102. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born December 1, 1939 in Lewis County, she was the daughter of the late Robert McKnight, Sr. and Nellie Sue Brown McKnight. She was a 1958 graduate of Haylong High School. Mrs. Williams was a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Tammy (Wesley) Dodd of New Johnsonville; son, Mark (Sidney) Williams of Mt. Juliet; sisters, Retha Wood and Carolyn (Gene) Craig both of Mt. Pleasant, and Cathy (Jimmy) Andrews of White Bluff; brothers Roland (Mary Ann) McKnight and Jerry (Mary Ella) McKnight both of Mt. Pleasant, and Mike (Renee) McKnight of Franklin; sister-in-law, Judy McKnight of Summertown; grandchildren, Daniel (Courtney) Willis, Tyler Willis, Blake Williams, Lynnze Etheridge, and Rachel Williams; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert "Bud" McKnight, Jr. and brother-in-law, William Doug Wood. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Willis, Tyler Willis, Roland McKnight, Jerry McKnight, Mike McKnight, Gene Craig, and Jimmy Andrews. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Barrier, Mike Kessler, J.B. Long, Elders of West 7th Street Church of Christ, Dr. Vance Hendrickson, Allen Elias, Ashley Brown, Dodd and Watts families of New Johnsonville, Special friends, June Seagraves, Faye Tucker, Dorothy Witherow, Betty Bender, Sandy Rose, Annette and Terry Davis, and current and past employees of Smelter Service Corporation.
