Mr. Laurice Denton Moore, 94, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at his residence on Dry Prong Road in Williamsport. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Dr. Joe Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Robert Laurice Moore and Katie Sue Denton Moore. On May 22, 1942 he married Audrey Page Moore who preceded him in death on May 24, 1989 then in 1990 married Dora Kinzer Hight Moore who preceded him in death January 13, 2001. In his early life Mr. Moore worked for the Maury County Highway Department and later worked for the Department of Metro Transportation in Nashville for thirty-eight years. He retired from R.H. Chilton Machine Company in 1980 and spent the rest of his days farming in Jones Valley. He was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church. Survivors include a nephew, Carl (Linda) Moore of Culleoka; niece, Susan (Norris) Alderson of Brentwood; step-daughters, Jane Wiley, Barbara Sue Bridges, Margaret Gail Whitaker; step-son, Robert Hight; and special friends, Giva M. King and Samuel G. King. He was preceded in death by a son, Laurice "Larry" Moore, Jr. on May 11, 2009; three sisters; and two brothers, Henry Carl Moore, Sr. and Jim Moore. Active pallbearers include Thomas Davis, Jerry Davis, Robert Hight, Mike Lynch, Aron Hanes, Arnold Hanes, Emerson Potts, Jim McEwen and Byron Steward.
