View Funeral Webcast Leland Ray Puckett, 81, resident of Pickens Lane, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Maury County native was the son of the late John Moody Puckett and Pattye Walker Puckett. He was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Puckett was a boiler operator for Occidental Corporation for 36 years. Later, he was a member of the Columbia Police Department as Traffic Control Officer. He was a long-time member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Hubbell Puckett of Columbia; son, Danny (Theresa) Puckett of Columbia; grandchildren, Heather (Rob) Latimer of Murfreesboro and Jason Puckett of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Emma Brooklyn Latimer and Leland Jake Latimer; 3 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Puckett. Active pallbearers are Jason Puckett, Rob Latimer, Don Thurman, Dennis Thurman, Lon Wilson, Bradley Kelley, Lea Hibbett, and Ed Campbell. Honorary pallbearers include Occidental Corporation retirees, Columbia Police Department, Dudley Delffs, Darlene Thomason, Beverly Brewer, and Jerry Walker.
