View Video Tribute Leslie Paul "Moose" McGowan, 60, former employee of the Mid-South Stockyard and life-long resident of the Water Valley Community, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Life Care of Columbia. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Fe Cemetery with Jeremy Butt officiating. Born in Maury County, he was the son of the late Earl McGowan and Virginia Notgrass McGowan. He attended Water Valley School and Santa Fe School and was a member of the baseball team. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed all sports and playing pool. He spent many hours at the Maury County Senior Citizens Center and participated in and enjoyed all activities and events. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include a sister, Freda (Larry) Jones of Columbia; niece, Tammy (Tim) Tisher of Columbia; nephew, Stephen Jones of Columbia; great-niece, Daylen Tisher of Columbia; great-nephew, Destin Tisher of Columbia; aunts, Mary Jewell of Columbia, Christine Bryant of Lawrenceburg, Polly Fleeman of Lawrenceburg, Anise McGowan of Water Valley, and Gloria Spicer of McMinnville; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by uncles, Doug McGowan, Paul McGowan, Leslie McGowan, and John Notgrass. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
