Lewis Cecil Love

Mr. Lewis Cecil Love, 90, retired from DuPont/Spontex and resident of Cheyenne Trail, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Davidson and Mike Kesler officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was born October 10, 1924 the son of the late Ernest Love and Anna Dell Dycus Love. He was a 1943 graduate of Columbia Central High School and furthered his education earning a Bachelor's Degree from MTSU. He served in the United States Army during World War II specializing as Military Police. Mr. Love retired as Lab Tech from DuPont/Spontex after several years employment. He had earned over 2300 hours volunteering with Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of Columbia Civitan Club for several years. A faithful member of West Seventh Street Church of Christ, he had attended since 1929. Survivors include his wife Winnie Chappell Love of Columbia whom he married September 21, 1966, and nephew, Bill (Dianne) Kinzer of Springfield, Illinois.He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Love Kinzer.Active pallbearers will be Bill Kinzer, J.B. Long, Jim Carrigan, Stan Farris, Terry Chappell, Buford Moss, David Kirk, Sonny Lee and Chesley Thomason. Honorary pallbearers include the Elders and Deacons of West Seventh Street Church of Christ. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Maury Regional Hospital medical staff and the staff of Maury Regional Home Health for their care.
