Lewis P. “Buddy” Martin, 91, died Friday, November 21, 2025 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Wrigley Cemetery in Hickman County. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Buddy was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1933 in Pottsville, TN to the late James Taylor Martin and the late Ella Pate Hargrove Martin. He married Lois Laverne Parker on December 15, 1956 and she preceded him in death on October 2, 2012.

He was an avid fan of baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. His love for baseball came early in life as a catcher for Centerville High School, American Legion League, Wrigley Independent, Austin Peay College and the Monsanto Maulers. Buddy was employed by Monsanto Chemical Company for 32 years and retired in 1986. He loved his fellowman and was kind to all but above all he loved his Lord and his family and was a longtime member of Graymere Church of Christ.

Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Jennifer Anne (David) Sharp of Columbia; two step grandsons, Reese Sharp and Brandon Sharp; several nieces including, Annette Yates, Statia Noles, Tabby DeHaven, Vickie Rhoder, Angie Jackson, Mitzy Griffin, Liqulla Hogan, Sue and Brenda; and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, JT (Revel) Martin, Annie Laura (Judge) Yates, Bertie McAllister, and Marie (Henry) Bledsoe; nieces, Tina Johnson, Judy and Gary Martin.

Pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Graymere Church of Christ and Gerald Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be retired employees of Monsanto Chemical Company.
